"Over the past couple of months, I have visited the War Memorial with guests, to show them the names of our County’s veterans on the walls, as well as to show them the war display cases in the lobby.
My father (who passed away in 1993) was a veteran of World War II. I took my 87-year-old mother, who had never seen these displays, and she was so impressed and moved by our visit. I could tell how much it had meant to her.
A few weeks later on my lunch break, I met with the family of one of my best friends to show them the Memorial. My friend’s father is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. They too, were delighted to see such a tribute to the veteran’s of all the wars, as well as the Gulf War in which he served.
As a County employee in the Civic Center, I frequently visit the great building and I am always impressed with our Memorial, but also impressed with the upkeep and cleanliness of the facility. Those that work there and clean the facility, including the glass casings around the displays, etc., are always so hard working and pleasant.
I just wanted to let you know how proud you should be to have this great tribute to not only our veterans, but their families as well. It means so much. Thank You."
