Syracuse Opera Presents: Madama Butterfly

In turn-of-the-century Japan, the geisha Cio Cio San leaves her mother, companions, and religion to marry the American naval officer B. F. Pinkerton. Following their wedding, Pinkerton departs for America, promising he will return when "the robins build their nests." When he does return 3 years later, Butterfly is mortified to learn the real reason why.

Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

All attendees are invited to attend a free conductor's pre-talk one hour prior to each performance.
